Before you update your phone software

Protect your data by taking a few simple steps before you update your phone software.

To make sure your update goes smoothly and you don’t lose any information or personalised settings, take these steps before you update your phone software:

  • Back up your phone. You will be prompted to do this by the install wizard. For more information see Back up and restore your information.
  • Make sure your phone’s battery is fully charged and that you have a SIM card in the phone.
  • Connect your phone via USB cable. If your phone asks you which mode you would like to use to connect,select PC Suite.
  • If your phone’s memory card is encrypted, decrypt it. If you do not decrypt the memory card you won’t be able to access it after updating your phone software. Check your phone’s user manual for instructions on how to encrypt and decrypt memory cards.
