Yes, Nokia N95 device supports automatic screen rotation. The screen rotates automatically between portrait and landscape modes based on the orientation of the device if the automatic screen rotation mode is enabled. The screen rotation can be enabled in the following menu item:
Tools > Settings > General > Personalisation > Display > Rotate screen
Note that the N95 software version should be 30.0.015 or later. The current software version can be checked with keyboard command *#0000#.
To ensure that the automatic display rotation works, hold the device in an upright position. Automatic rotation does not work if you change the display rotation setting manually in an application. When you exit the application, automatic rotation is activated again.
In some of the mobile devices the certificate import may fail if trying to do it by opening the certificate file with the File Manager application. The certificate import fails even though the file contains a valid certificate. The following error message is displayed:
"Unable to open file"
The workaround is to place the certificate file in a web server and open it with the device web browser. Depending on the web server settings, the certificate file extension may have to be modified, e.g. with Microsoft IIS server the extension may need to be set to *.crt instead of *.cer.
To turn off the email alert sound on your Nokia device, follow the steps below:
The Call Log shows different icon depending on the type of call, for example voice call, video call or internet call. The icon doesn't necessarily match with the icon which can be seen in the contact details.
In S60 3.1 devices and later, the mobile number icon is used for all the voice calls in Call Log, including the calls to the desktop telephone number. If both the mobile and telephone number are defined for the contact in the Contacts application, the Call Log application will show the same icon for both numbers. Also, if just the telephone number is defined in contact details, the Call Log icon is different than what can be seen in the contact details.
Please, note that the behaviour in S60 3.1 devices and later is different than in the S60 3.0 devices. In S60 3.0 devices the Call Log showed a different icon for mobile number and desktop telephone number and the icon matched the icon shown in the contact details.
To reset some of the settings to their original values, select (depending on your device):
To do this, you need the lock code. The default lock code is 12345. After resetting, the device may take a longer time to power on. Documents and files are unaffected.
Note: If your Nokia device support encryption of the device memory or the memory card, make sure you decrypt them before you restore the factory setting or your data may be lost.
Conference call is a network service, make sure that the conference call is supported by your network operator or service provider before following the steps below.
To make a conference call on your device:
Note: to mute the microphone of your device during the conference call, in the active call mode, select Options > Mute.
Your device supports wireless local area network (WLAN). With WLAN, you can connect your device to the internet and compatible devices that have WLAN.
To use WLAN, it must be available in the location, and your device must be connected to the WLAN. Some WLANs are protected, and you need an access key from your service provider to connect to them.
Features that use WLAN, or that are allowed to run in the background while using other features, increase the demand on battery power and reduce the battery life.
Your device supports the following WLAN features:
To use WLAN, you must create an internet access point (IAP) for WLAN. Use the access point for applications that need to connect to the internet.
Important: Always enable one of the available encryption methods to increase the security of your wireless LAN connection. Using encryption reduces the risk of unauthorised access to your data.
A WLAN connection is established when you create an application connection using a WLAN internet access point. The active WLAN connection ends when you end the application.
You can use WLAN during a voice call or when packet data is active. You can only be connected to one WLAN access point device at a time but several applications can use the same internet access point.
When the device is in the offline profile, you can still use WLAN (if available) but there may be some limitations with connectivity. It is therefore recommended that online profile is used (requires SIM card in the device) Remember to comply with any applicable safety requirements when establishing and using a WLAN connection.
Tip: To check the unique media access control (MAC) address that identifies your device, enter *#62209526# on the home screen (standby mode).
SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) settings are needed for certain network services using SIP, e.g. for VoIP or video sharing. You may receive the settings in a special text message from your service provider. You can view, delete, or create these setting profiles in SIP settings menu.
A sample SIP profile is shown below:
The settings must match with the settings provided by the SIP service provider. Contact the service provider for the correct parameter values.
No. The amount of consecutive incorrect lock codes is not limited and you cannot lock your Nokia device permanently by entering wrong lock codes. However, if you enter the wrong lock code for 5 consecutive times, the device is locked for 5 minutes during which time it doesn't accept any codes, not even the correct one.
Note that some applications may add security measures of their own if an incorrect lock code is given too many times. For example with Mail for Exchange the administrator can define that all the data in the device is deleted when a maximum number of lock code retries is reached. The device may show in this situation the following warning message:
Incorrect lock code. One attempt left before data is deleted.
If a wrong lock code is still given after the above warning, the device is reset and all the user data is wiped out.
To use a different language other than your device language in your writing, for example, when writing a message or creating a contact, open message or contact editor, select Options > Input options > Writing language (or Options > Writing language), and the desired language from the list.
Your Nokia device has a set of preinstalled languages that are used in your region. You can choose one of the available languages (for example, your native language) as device language, and choose a different language as writing language.
