Transfer videos

You can use Nokia Multimedia Transfer to transfer iTunes or iPhoto videos to your device. There are specific settings.

Choosing how videos should be transferred

To change your settings, select Device settings > Video from the Nokia Multimedia Transfer icon in the menu bar.

Video specific settings

To transfer from iTunes, make sure the Transfer video files from iTunes folders and playlist box is ticked.

To transfer from iPhoto, make sure the Transfer video files from iPhoto folders and albums box is ticked.

If you want transfers to start automatically when you connect your device, select Device settings > General and select Start transfers automatically when device is connected.

Start a transfer

Start a transfer by selecting Start video transfers. See the progress of the transfer by clicking on Nokia Multimedia Transfer in the menu bar. When the transfer is complete a notification message is briefly displayed.

Transcoding – changing video from one format to another

To make some videos playable on your device, you may need to change their format. This is known as "transcoding".

As a general rule (though not in every case) you can transcode video files that are:

  • playable in QuickTime
  • not copy-protected

The default option in Nokia Multimedia Transfer is to Transcode videos not natively supported by the device. This means that only videos that need to be transcoded so they play on your device will be converted.

You can also choose to use custom transcoding settings. We recommend that you only do this if you are already familiar with transcoding.
