The infrared object exchange is an application for the Nokia 9110 Communicator, which enables file transfer over infrared between the Communicator and
  • another Nokia Communicator 9110 or 9000i having this software
  • Hewlett Packard's CapShare 910 scanner*
  • any other device that supports IrObex (infrared object exchange protocol)
*Object exchange allows you to capture documents from the Hewlett Packard Capshare 910 device to your communicator via an infrared IrObex connection, and forward them as a fax or email attachment.

GPS-SMS is a GPS receiver connectivity application that enables position information transfer from a GPS receiver to the Communicator. This application shows on the Communicator screen position information (co-ordinates in longitude, latitude, time, velocity, direction, and the number of satellites available, and whether you are using differential correction or not) received from the GPS receiver. You can send this information further by SMS to another GSM phone or via cardphone to a PC. If you want to see the location in a map from your PC screen, you will additionally need Map Server Software.

The application supports GGA and VTG frames of NMEA (national marine electronics association) 0183 protocol over serial cable link between a GPS receiver and the Nokia Communicator.

Please note: The GPS-SMS Application Version 1.1 can also be used without VTG frame.

GPS Receiver Requirement: This application has been used with a receiver, which has Trimbles ACE II 8 channel receiver board and Aztec's OEM4000 RDS board. This application can also be used without the RDS board. This receiver's output protocol is NMEA 0183 (ASCII data). Used NMEA messages supported only by the application are GGA and VTG. Almost all GPS receivers support NMEA protocol.

Please note: This software is only compatible with Nokia 9110, Nokia 9000i, and Nokia 9000 Communicators.
