Near Field Communication (NFC) is a wireless connectivity technology that enables two-way communication between electronic devices. You can perform contactless transactions, access digital content, and connect devices with a single touch.
To find more information about NFC in your phone, select Menu > NFC > NFC Introduction.
The NFC detection area is located in the top part of the phone. To use the NFC services, you need to touch the service tag or other NFC device with the detection area. The typical reading range is 0 to 3 centimeters. When the tag is recognized, the corresponding information is displayed on the screen.
When an external NFC reader is detected, the corresponding secure application is launched on your device. You can choose to use an activation level requiring a confirmation or passcode to use the NFC service. To set a security level for a service, select Menu > NFC > NFC Settings > Cards availability and choose Always active, if you want to allow the access of an external NFC reader to the phone's secure element without confirmation, and either By confirmation or With passcode to allow the access with confirmation or only after entering a passcode.
When sharing items from your phone to another Nokia 6212 classic, whenever the content item, such as contacts, bookmarks, notes, calendar events, profiles, etc., is marked with this icon [NFC sharing icon], all you need to do is touch the other NFC device with your phone to share.
You can change the secure element passcode on your device. To change it, select Menu > NFC > NFC settings > Cards passcode. Note that when using the NFC passcode, if an incorrect passcode is entered 5 times, the secure application locks and you can no longer use payment and ticketing applications and services with this device. To unlock the secure application, contact your service provider.
