The Nokia N97 release 2.1 update may use an “Installer” to deliver the update to your device.

We always recommend updating your firmware (device Operating System) before selecting other applications to install, as it may also contain the newer applications.

Before updating any device software, we recommend to sync or take a backup of your important data first

1. To download and install the selected updates, select Menu > Applications
2. Tap SW update.
3. Select the software you wish to install and follow the prompts.

To install the Nokia N97 release 2.1 installer

1. Select N97 2.1 software installer from the list.
2. Follow the screen prompts to download and install the update.
3. If you stop the installation before it has finished, the Installer icon can be found at Menu > Applications.
4. After the update, we recommend you reset the device and resync or restore your backup contents (not settings). To reset the device, key *#7370# followed by the lock code (default = 12345).

You can also update your device software using your PC. To update the device software, you need the Nokia Software Updater application and a compatible PC with Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, or Vista operating system, broadband internet access, and a compatible data cable to connect your device to the PC.

1. Download the latest version of Nokia Software Updater from Nokia website to your PC.
2. Connect you mobile device to your PC with a compatible USB data cable.
3. Use the Nokia PC Suite or Ovi Suite to back up the data in your device.
4. Install Nokia Software Updater.
5. Follow the instructions to update the software.
6. Restore your data files from the PC to your device.
