A backup is not required to update your software, we recommend that you sync your data instead. There are multiple ways to do the syncronisation: Nokia Ovi Suite, Nokia PC Suite, or via Ovi Contacts. Mac users who have software version 20.0.019 (or greater) can use iSync.

Software Updates require at least 13MB of free space on your Nokia N97 C: drive.

Check if you have enough space for the update using the following instructions:

To check the free space available, tap Menu > Applications > Office > File Mgr.
If you need to make some space, you can delete unwanted applications by tapping Menu > Settings > Application mgr. > Installed apps.

With PC Suite or Ovi Suite installed, you can also use your PC browser to explore your Phone Memory. Remember there is much more space available on the E: Mass memory
drive, so store images and sounds there instead.
