Nokia Messaging – for S40 devices

Access your favourite e-mail accounts and use your mobile device to read, write, and send e-mail.

Before you can use Nokia Messaging for e-mail and start e-mailing contacts, you must have an e-mail account. If you don’t already have an e-mail account, see Create a new Ovi Mail account

Sign in to Nokia Messaging for e-mail:

1. Select Menu > Messaging > Mail.
2. Select a service community.
3. Enter your Account ID and Password.
   When signing in for the first time, you have the option of saving your password. By default, this option is already set for most service communities. To enable this option and not have to enter your password with each sign in, select the Remember password option.
4. Select Sign In.
   When you sign in, your Inbox is displayed by default. This is the folder that contains your incoming e-mail messages.

Create a new Ovi Mail account
If you do not already have an e-mail account, you can create an Ovi Mail account:

1. From the list of available service communities, select Register for Ovi Mail.
2. Follow the instructions on the display.

Once you have created your new Ovi account, you can sign in to the service and start sending and receiving e-mail messages. You can also use this Ovi account to sign into Nokia Messaging for instant messaging and other services, as described on the Ovi website (www.ovi.com).

Read an e-mail and reply

1. From the Mailbox view, highlight an e-mail and select Open.
2. Use the up and down scroll keys to read the entire e-mail.
3. To reply to or forward the e-mail, select Options and one of the available options: Reply, Forward, Quick Reply, and Reply All.

View and save attachments

1. From the Mailbox view, select an e-mail that has an attachment.
   You will see a small paperclip icon beside all e-mail messages that have attachments.
2. Expand the attachment list.
3. Select the attachment you want to open and select View.
4. To save the attachment, select Save.

Write and send an e-mail

1. From the Mailbox view, select Options > Compose.
2. Enter the recipient’s e-mail address, the subject, and the e-mail message. To attach a file, select Options > Attach file and select the file. You can also take a picture and attach it right away.
3. To send the e-mail, select Send.

Send a file from your mobile device

You can add attachments to your e-mail messages by attaching an existing file while writing your e-mail message and attaching it to the message:

1. From the Mailbox view, select Options > Compose.
2. From the Compose view, select Options > Attach file.
3. Navigate to the file you want to attach and select it.
   The file is attached to the e-mail.
4. Select Send.

Send a picture taken with your camera

You can add attachments to your e-mail messages by taking a picture while writing your e-mail and attaching it to the message:

1. From the Mailbox view, select Options > Compose.
2. From the Compose view, select Options > Attach New Picture.
3. When the camera is ready, set up your shot and select Capture.
4. Select Send.

Access your instant messaging account from your e-mail account

With some e-mail communities, you can access your instant messaging account directly from your e-mail account.

Leave the application

1. From your Inbox, select Sign Out.

Get help

1. To get help on the Nokia Messaging for e-mail, select Options > Help.
2. For detailed documentation on using the Nokia Messaging for e-mail, scroll to the bottom of the Help window, highlight Using e-mail, and select Open.
