  • How do I manage the scroll key light settings on my Nokia device?

Select Menu > Ctrl. panel > Settings > General > Personalization > Notification lights.

When you miss a call or receive a message, the scroll key starts blinking to indicate the event. To set the blinking time and which events you want to be notified, select Notification light.

When you do not use the device for a certain period of time, the scroll key starts blinking slowly as if it was breathing. To turn the breathing light on or off, select Standby br.light > Breathing light.

Select Menu > Ctrl. panel (or Tools) > Settings > General > Personalisation > One-touch keys.

With the one-touch keys, you can access applications and tasks quickly. You can customize the One-touch keys by selecting the applications on the One-touch key settings. Your service provider may have assigned applications to the keys, in which case you cannot change them.

Perform the following steps to set the Email key (Letter) to open New SMS Messages (for example on Nokia E72):

  1. Select PersonalizationOne-touch keys.
  2. Select Messaging key.
  3. Open Short press.
  4. Select MessagingOK.
  5. Select New SMS > OK .
  6. Select Back a few times.

To restore the preset applications and tasks for the keys, select Restore defaults from the One-touch keys list.

The Nokia Devices (for example E72, E5-00, C5-00), which has the built-in multiprotocol email client. 

  1. Open the Email application (Depending on the device for example Menu > Email or Menu > Office > Email or Menu > Applications > Email). 
  2. Select Settings and highlight the mailbox you want to remove.
  3. Select Options and Remove mailbox.
  4. Select Yes to the question to remove mailbox.

Note! The mailbox content will be deleted from the phone, but do not from Email server.

Your Nokia device includes a built-in multiprotocol email client application, which supports the following sets of e-mail protocols:

Microsoft ActiveSync - Email client supports synchronization with Microsoft Exchange servers. Separate Mail for Exchange client is not needed, instead it has been integrated to the device firmware. You can define one Mail for Exchange mailbox on your device.

Nokia Messaging - Email client can synchronize email accounts defined on Nokia device. You can define up to 10 mailboxes, which are using Nokia Messaging service, on your device.

IMAP/POP - Email client supports access to any IMAP/POP e-mail server. You can define up to 10 IMAP/POP mailboxes on your device. 

Proprietary - Third party e-mail clients such as Lotus Notes Traveler, Vista, System Seven require separate e-mail client installation to the device.

The email mailboxes are added by Set up e-mail wizard or from Email client by selecting New icon.

  • How do I set up a hidden wireless LAN ( WLAN ) access point in my Nokia device?

To set up a hidden WLAN Access point, do the following:

  1. Select Menu > Ctrl. Panel (or Settings) > Settings > Connection > Destinations 
  2. Select Access Point, Add new acc. pt 
  3. Select Yes when the wizard displays: Automatically check for available access points? 
  4. Select Wireless LAN. 
  5. Scroll down WLAN network list and select Other (hidden netw.)
  6. Enter the WLAN Network name, the Service Set identifier (SSID) and select OK.
  7. Enter Web key for WLAN.
  8. Next select the destination you wish to access using this access point.

In case there is not WLAN visible in your Nokia device in step 3, select No > Wireless LAN. Setup wizard ask you to enter WLAN network name and Web key for WLAN.

You can change and edit the Network mode and the Security info later by opening the WLAN access point.

Reboot your device once after the WLAN definitions, if there is the problems to get the connection.

You can create the Nokia Messaging service account while running the Set up e-mail wizard on the device. Your user name  and password for Nokia Messaging service will be the e-mail address and password, which you are entering for the first account in the Set up e-mail wizard.

You can't disable an individual mailbox from automatically synchronising when using Nokia Messaging. If you disable one email synchronising (for example Hotmail) all others will be disable too. 

Note: This applies for older built-in email client devices (for example E72, E52, E5-00). 

Perform the following steps to disable email synchronizing from all email accounts:

  1. Start the Email application.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select the one mailbox.
  4. Select Account settings.
  5. Select What to synchronise.
  6. Select Synchronise email.
  7. Select Off.
  8. Press OK.

  • How do I manage the audio themes on my Nokia device?

Select Menu > Ctrl. panel > Themes > Audio themes.

You can set sounds for various device events. The sounds can be tones, speech, or a combination of both.

To change the current audio theme, select Active audio theme.

To set a sound for an event, select an event group, such as ringing tones, and the desired event.

To use all the preset sounds in an event group, scroll to the group, and select Options > Activate sounds.

Select Options and from the following list (options may vary):

  1. Play voice - Play the sound before activating it.
  2. Save theme - Create a new audio theme.
  3. 3-D ringing tones - Add 3-D effects to the audio theme.
  4. Speech - Select Speech to set speech as the sound for an event. Enter the desired text to the text field. The Speech option is not available if you have activated the Say caller's name option in the current profile.
  5. Deactivate sounds - Silence all the sounds in an event group.

To define do following steps on the device (for example on Nokia E72):

  1. Select Contacts.
  2. Select Options.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Select Mail for Exchange on the Remote Search server.

To add a Mail for Exchange contact to your Contacts do the following steps:

  1. Select Contact.
  2. Select Options.
  3. Select Search from remote > Search from Mail for Exchange is displayed.
  4. Enter the name you are searching and select Search.
  5. The full name is displayed
  6. Select Options.
  7. Select Save Contacts.
