Open SIM card (and memory card) slot door which is located on the right side of the device. When you insert the SIM card ensure that the contact area on the card is facing the connectors on the device and that the bevelled corner is facing the correct direction (see the card symbol on the inside of the slot door). Push the SIM card into the slot until it locks into place and close the slot door.

To remove the SIM card, open the card slot, and push the card slightly inward to release it from the slot. You can insert and remove a SIM card while the device is switched on.

For backup and restore you can use Windows backup and restore function. It is recommended that you save the backup to an external hard drive. It is also recommended that you back up your data weekly, or, if your data is very important, even daily.

To open the application select Start > Control Panel > System and Security > Backup and Restore.

To view and select connection methods to use, and to activate or deactivate wireless connections or flight mode, press fn+F10. Press fn+F10 again (or use left/right arrow keys) to move between different connection methods and press Enter or use touch pad buttons to activate or deactivate any of the connection methods or flight mode.

Note. When flight mode is active, press fn+F10, then press the Enter key to deactivate flight mode. You will not be able to use the left/right arrow keys to move between different connection methods, until you deactivate flight mode.

Select the connections dialog icon from the system tray, at the lower right corner of the display, select hidden network and enter the correct network name (service set identifier, SSID) and other necessary details.
Alternatively, you can create network profile manually by selecting Start > Control panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Manage wireless networks > Add > Manually create a network profile.

With Nokia Social hub, you can send and receive text messages, and access social utilities on the internet. You can also view in full screen pictures and videos within the application, as well as view web browser links that have been gathered automatically during the day. To be able to send text messages with Nokia Social hub, SIM card must be insterted to the device and 3G connection set active.

If you forget or lose the lock code or security code, try first the default lock code 12345. If it is not accepted, contact the nearest Nokia Care point to unlock your device. To find nearest location to you, go to your local Nokia website, and navigate to Support > Contact us.

Assisted Global Positioning System (A-GPS) assists the mobile device in finding satellites. A-GPS speeds up the location calculation remarkably and makes your GPS functionality start-up faster.

When using A-GPS, the device receives useful satellite information from an assistance data server over the cellular network. With the assisted data the device can detect the set of satellites that are worth listening to, that is, the satellites that are on the same side of the planet with your device. Without the assisted data the device should listen to all satellites and getting a GPS fix would take a longer time.

A-GPS is a network service and it is used by default in Nokia devices that support A-GPS.

A-GPS is available in all countries and does not depend on specific operator services.

The WLAN access point may use a hidden service set identifier (SSID). You can only access networks that use a hidden SSID if you know the correct SSID, and have created a WLAN internet access point for the network on your Nokia device.

How to Connect to Hidden Wireless Networks:

•  Get the details of the hidden wireless network 
• Know the SSID
  
•  Know the encryption used (WEP, WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK(AES) security
• Start the 'Set Up a Connection or Network' Wizard
  Windows Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center : Select > Setup a new connection or Network
  select 'Manually connect to a wireless network' and click on Next.

• Complete the details of the wireless network
  Network Name, Security Type, Encryption type, Security Type

 Check the other two boxes: 'Start this connection automatically' and 'Connect even if the network is not broadcasting'.

 These two allow you to connect automatically to the hidden wireless network.  Once all data is completed, click on Next.

Establishing a GPS connection may take from a couple of seconds to several minutes. Establishing a GPS connection in a vehicle may take longer. If you are indoors, go outdoors to receive a better signal. If you are outdoors, move to a more open space. Ensure that your hand does not cover the GPS antenna of your device. If the weather conditions are bad, the signal strength may be affected. Some vehicles have tinted (athermic) windows, which may block the satellite signals.

1. Right click on Windows Taskbar and select Properties
2. Select Taskbar > Notification area > Customize
3. Locate Network icon and select Show icon and notifications for that.
4. Press OK to conclude selection and close the current window.

Alternatively, if you do not want connections (Network) dialog icon to be visible all the time, you can always locate it by pressing upwards pointing arrow icon in taskbar (this will show all hidden notification area icons).

1. Open Social hub. Select Start menu > All programs > Nokia > Social hub or press fn + F11.
2. Select Tools -icon (icon looking like sprocket) in the bottom row of the application, and select Services tab.

Press and hold the power key approximately 3 seconds. If this does not help, the operating system may have stopped responding, and you cannot use your device. To switch off the device, press and hold the power key for at least four seconds. If the device does still not respond, remove the battery.

If another device is connected to your device, you can end the connection from the other device or deactivate Bluetooth connectivity in your device. To deactivate Bluetooth connectivity, press fn+F10 and select the Bluetooth icon.
