This is not a defect on the device but a limitation with the accelerometer (orientation sensor), it will only function if the device is held vertically (upright position).

A hard reset can be performed with the usual method of typing in *#7370# and the lock code is needed.

If the lock code has changed, or the customer does not remember it, the following can be done to hard reset the device:

1. Power off the device.
2. Hold the two call keys (red and green) and the camera button, and proceed to power on the device, while holding the three keys (green, red and camera).
3. Keep holding down the 3 keys until after the handshake screen.

A request for country should now be available, and the hard reset should be complete, without the lock code.  Keep in mind, the lock code still remains unchanged (it does not go back to the default 12345).

If consumers wish to use anti-virus software to protect their mobile device, solutions are available from anti-virus vendors.
 

Select Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Network >Network mode, select Dual mode and operator selection Automatic.

Note: Verify the 3G network coverage of the place or location from your operator or service provider, as the phone only receives what the network frequency has on that particular area.

Please press on the first key on your phone (Green) for  a while and select 'activate'.

Or open dialer, press and hold number "1" and enter the voice mail box number.

Select Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Destinations > Options > Default connection > Internet.

This option chooses from the available access points in order of priority.

If above does not help, check that you have defined the access point on the application settings, for example in the web browser.

The phone may answer a call automatically if the automatic answer feature is enabled in the device settings and certain accessories are connected to the device. Check the state of the following settings:

• Menu -> Settings -> Phone -> Accessories -> Headset -> Automatic answer.
• Menu -> Settings -> Phone -> Accessories -> Wireless car kit -> Automatic answer.
• Menu -> Settings -> Phone -> Accessories -> Music stand -> Automatic answer.
• Menu -> Settings -> Phone -> Accessories -> Loopset -> Automatic answer.

If no automatic answer is enabled but the phone seems to occasionally answer a call automatically, check that you are not inadvertently pressing a key while the Anykey answer mode is enabled. To disable the Anykey answering mode, select:

• Menu -> Settings -> Calling -> Call -> Anykey Answer -> Off.

Select Menu > Settings > Phone > Language > Predictive text > On on your touch screen device.

With predictive text input, you can enter any letter with a single tap of a key. Predictive text input is based on a built in dictionary to which you can add new words.

You can also activate predictive text input for all text editors on the device, tap Text input indicator and select Activate prediction or quickly tap # twice.

You can also tap Input menu and select Activate predictive text.

To turn off the email alert sound on your Nokia device, follow the steps below:

1. Go to Profiles application.
2. Select your active profile, for example General.
3. Select Options > Personalise (or Customize).
4. Select E-mail alert tone (or Mail alert tone).
5. Select Off from the list of tones.

The native Nokia VoIP application (Nokia Internet Telephony client) is not supported in the 5800 Xpress Music device but you can check for the availability of 3rd party VoIP applications for 5800 Xpress Music at Ovi Store (e.g. Fring, Skype etc.). 

Establishing a GPS connection may take from a couple of seconds to several minutes. Establishing a GPS connection in a vehicle may take longer. If you are indoors, go outdoors to receive a better signal. If you are outdoors, move to a more open space. Ensure that your hand does not cover the GPS antenna of your device. If the weather conditions are bad, the signal strength may be affected. Some vehicles have tinted (athermic) windows, which may block the satellite signals.

You can access the alphanumeric keypad when writing the text by pressing the keyboard icon. Depending on the device model and the display rotation (landscape or portrait) you may also choose Handwriting, Mini QWERTY keyboard and Full screen QWERTY.

Select  Menu > Settings > Phone > Date and time > Automatic time update > On.

Check the touch screen vibration setting on your profile. The vibration intensity can be changed from profile settings (depending on your device model) either in Menu > Settings > Profiles or in Menu > Settings > Personal > Profiles and then selecting preferred profile and Options > Personalise > Touch screen vibration.

Do the following:

1. Open Clock application.
2. Create a new alarm Options > New alarm.
3. Select Repeat > Workdays. 

Note: You can modify the default workdays in Options > Settings > Workdays.

You can set a song as ringing tone by selecting Menu > Music (or Menu > Music > Music player) and browsing to the desired song. Select Options > Use tone > Set as ringing tone (or As ringing tone). Select then the profiles for which the song will be used as the ringing tone.

If you want to assign the song as a ringing tone for a specific contact, select Options > Use tone > Assign to contact and select the contact from the list.

Select Menu > Music > Radio > Options > Alternative frequencies and whether you want the radio to automatically search for a better RDS (Radio Data System) frequency for the station if the frequency level becomes low.
 

Yes, push email is supported on your touch screen device.

Press and hold the menu key to see open applications. Then press and hold the icon for application that is not responding, and select Exit.
