How to use Nokia Podcasting

These instructions help you establish a connection between your Nokia device and your Mac.

Using the main features of Nokia Podcasting

Nokia Podcasting offers many handy features for listening to your favourite podcasts. You can learn how to use the main features of Nokia Podcasting by looking at our interactive tutorial (needs Adobe Flash Player) or by reading through the instructions below.

Using Nokia Podcasting is easy. Familiarize yourself with most common features of the application by reading through these instructions.

Search for podcasts by keywords

  1. Select Search
  2. Type in a keyword or the title of the podcast you are looking for.
  3. Select ok
  4. View the search results
  5. Choose a podcasts you want to subscribe to

Browse podcasts in directories

  1. Select Directories
  2. Double-click the category you wish to browse (category will then be updated) and select Open for the Options menu.
  3. Repeat with the subcategories if necessary
  4. Choose a directory that you are interested in.
  5. Double-click to update the directory and select Open from the Options menu.
  6. Choose a podcast you want to subscribe to.

Subscribe to a podcast

  1. Find a podcast either through Directories or through Search
  2. Select Subscribe from the Options menu
  3. Now you can go to Podcasts to download episodes of the subscribed podcast

Download an episode

  1. Go to Podcasts
  2. Choose a podcast and select Open from the Options menu
  3. Select an episode to download
  4. Select Download from the options menu and wait for the episode to be downloaded
  5. Now you can listen to the downloaded episode

Listen to a podcast

  1. Select Podcasts to see the podcasts you have subscribed to
  2. Select the podcast you are interested in
  3. Navigate to the downloaded episode you would like to listen to
  4. Select Play from the Options menu
  5. Episode starts to play

Pre-listening to Podcasts

After you have downloaded a percentage of the content you can pre-listen to the show and decide if you want to download the full episode or not.

Just select Play preview from the Options menu after the episode has started downloading.

Updating Podcasts

To see all the episodes of your favorite podcast that are available for download you need to update the podcast.

Just navigate to a podcast and select Update from the Options menu.

Unsubscribing from a podcast

If the podcast you subscribed to turned out to be not that interesting after all, you can easily unsubscribe from it.

You can unsubscribe by navigating to a podcast and selecting Unsubscribe.

Deleting podcasts or episodes

Want to make some space for new podcasts by deleting the ones you have already listened to?

You have two ways to do this. The first option is to navigate to an episode and select Remove from the Options menu. The second option is to delete a podcast and all episodes related to it by navigating to the podcast and selecting Delete from the Options menu.

Sharing podcasts with your friends

You can send links to your favorite podcast shows and directories via multimedia and Bluetooth wireless technology.

To send a link to a podcast show, go to Podcasts. If you want to send a directory, go to Directories. Navigate to the podcast show or directory you want to send and select Send from the Options menu. Then choose to send Via Multimedia or Via Bluetooth and your device will guide you further.

Setting up directories

From the main menu, choose Directories and the default directories will be listed. (If you have directories defined, they will be listed here.) Select the New menu from the Options menu, then select the Web Directory submenu. Select the Web Directory Title, type in the name you want to give this directory and select OK. Select the Web Directory URL, type in the URL (ending in .opml) and select OK.

Now you have set up your first directory!
