Tips for better videos with Adobe Premiere Elements

Playback on Nokia N93

With the correct software it is possible to create videos for playback on your Nokia N93.

Software requirements:

  • Adobe Premiere Elements
  • Apple QuickTime Pro

Apple QuickTime Pro is available by upgrading QuickTime. Buy Apple QuickTime Pro version 7.1 or later from www.apple.com/quicktime.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Create your video masterpiece in Adobe Premiere Elements.
  2. Create a custom QuickTime preset. (For example, to create an AVC (H.264) video file, select a frame rate of 20fps and frame size of 320 by 240 (QVGA) and save. Export the video using this preset.
  3. In QuickTime Pro, select Export. (If it is greyed out, you are probably running normal QuickTime.)
  4. In the Save window that appears, name the file. In the Export window, select Movie to MPEG-4 and then click Options.
  5. Select the desired video format. For AVC use H.264. Alternatively MPEG-4 Basic can be used, although this will result in larger files.
  6. Select image size 320 by 240 QVGA. Ensure the Preserve aspect ratio box is ticked.
  7. Set frame rate to Custom. In the right hand boxes, type in 15, 20, or 25 fps. Note that higher frame rates results in larger files, and that the Nokia N93 may drop frames depending on processor loading.

  8. Click the Video options button and select Baseline, then click OK.

  9. In the main export panel, select Audio from the second pulldown menu. Lower the data rate to 96 kbps and click OK.

  10. Transfer the resulting video file to your Nokia N93 for playback.
