    Help is at hand

    Your device has context-sensitive help. You can access help from an application or from the main menu. To access help when an application is open, select Options > Help.

    Shortcut to menu items

    Instead of using the scroll key, you can use the numeric keypad to quickly access the applications. For example, in the main menu, press 3 to open the third application in the menu (by default Maps).

    Find out your software version

    To check the software version in your device, enter *#0000# in the standby mode.

    Switch between text input modes

    To switch between multitap, predictive and numeric text input, quickly press # twice.

    That sounds like my boss!

    You can add personalized ringing tone to an individual contact or contact group. In Contacts, press the scroll key to open a contact card or go to the groups list, and select a contact group. Select Options > Ringing tone and the tone you want to use. You can also use a video clip as a ringing tone.

    Slide handling

    You can select whether opening and closing the slide answers/ends calls and locks/unlocks the keypad. Press the Menu key and select Tools > Settings > General > Slide handling.

    Active toolbar in Gallery

    In the Images & video folder, you can use the active toolbar as a shortcut to select different tasks. Scroll up or down to different items, and select them by pressing the scroll key. To hide the active toolbar, select Options > Hide icons.

    Keep track of free memory

    To monitor the amount of used and free space in the device mass memory, go to Menu > Tools > Utilities > Memory. To see how much disc space the different applications and data types use, select Options > Memory details. Other options include naming, backing up and restoring.

    Get to the picture

    Use the self-timer (main camera only) to delay the capture so that you can include yourself in the picture. To set the self-timer delay, in the active toolbar, select Self timer and set the delay. To activate the self-timer, select Activate.

    Capture steadier images

    Pressing the Capture may cause the device to move when taking a picture. In the Camera active toolbar, select Self timer > 2 seconds to delay the capture a bit to keep your hand steady.

    Nothing to hear here?

    If you do not want to record sound while capturing a video clip, select Options > Mute in Camera.

    Find text from a page

    To search for keywords within the current web page, select Options > Find > Text, and enter a keyword. Press the scroll key down/up for next/previous match.

    Record your IM chat

    To record the messages that are exchanged during a conversation or while you are joined in a IM group, select Options > Record chat. To stop recording, select Options > Stop recording. To view the recorded chats, in the main view, select Record chats.

    Nokia Podcasting

    With the Nokia Podcasting application, you can download, enjoy and manage audio and video podcasts with your device. To open Nokia Podcasting, select Menu > Music > Podcasting.

    Mobile search

    Use Mobile Search application to get access to search content and services. Select Menu > Search. A list of categories is displayed. Select a category (for example, Images), and enter your text into the search field. Select Search.

    Content transfer

    You can transfer content from your old device with the Switch application. Select Phone Switch in Welcome application or go to Tools > Utilities > Switch.

    Missing e-mail settings?

    Use Settings wizard to define your mailbox settings. Press the Menu key and select Tools > Utilities > Sett. wizard.

    Use Bluetooth safely

    To protect your device against harmful content, select Bluetooth > Off or My phone's visibility > Hidden when you are not using Bluetooth connectivity. Also, do not pair with or accept connection requests from an unknown device.

    Tips for longer battery life

    To prolong the operating time of your device, turn the Bluetooth technology off in Menu > Connect > Bluetooth when you do not need it. Also set Packet data connection to When needed. To close all the unused applications that are running in the background, press and hold the menu key, scroll on an application in the list and press the Clear key.

    In order to view the Flash content, you need to have Adobe Flash Player installed on your computer. You can download the latest Flash Player for free from Adobe's website.
