Navigation settings

To change how Maps behaves during navigation, select Options > Tools > Settings > Navigation and then select from the following. The available options may vary.

  • Voice guidance — Select the language of the voice guidance for driving navigation. You may need to download voice guidance files before you can select the language.


Note: downloading voice guidance files may involve the transmission of large amounts of data through your service provider’s network. Contact your service provider for information about data transmission charges.

  • Backlight — Choose when Maps should backlight the screen.
  • Automatic zoom — Turn automatic zooming on or off.
  • Traffic info update — Choose how Maps should update real-time traffic information
  • Reroute due to traffic — Turn automatic rerouting on or off.
  • Time indicator — Show the travel time or estimated time of arrival on the display.
  • Speed limit warner — Set the device to notify you when you exceed the speed limit, if information is available
  • Safety spot warner — Set the device to notify you when you approach a speed camera, if information is available
  • Maps improvement — Choose whether to let Nokia use information from your device to improve the Maps application.

    Information about your direction, speed, location, satellite time, and the accuracy of positioning is collected periodically while you are travelling at typical car speeds.

    The information is anonymous and encrypted, and is sent only when you use Maps over a fixed or wireless local area network connection. The information is deleted from your device once sent.
