Back up and restore your information

With Nokia Ovi Suite you can back up your names, numbers and photos safely to your computer – and restore them to a new device if you need to.

Nokia Ovi Suite helps you to back up your Nokia devices on your computer to help you avoid losing contacts, photos or other important information.

Once your information is backed up, you can restore it to the original device or to another Nokia device: some settings data can only be restored to the same Nokia model as it was backed up from.

Back up your information
  1. Connect the device you want to back up to your computer with a USB cable. You can use a Bluetooth connection instead but it will be much slower. Your device may ask you how you want to connect. Select PC Suite and then select OK.
  2. In Nokia Ovi Suite, select Tools > Backup. Nokia Ovi Suite reads your device and prepares a list of information that can be backed up.
  3. Select the information that you want to back up. If you want to change where the backup file is saved, select Browse and choose another location.
  4. Select Start to begin the backup. Do not disconnect or switch off your device during the backup. If you need to stop the backup, select Stop. Nokia Ovi Suite will reach a safe stop point and will then stop the backup.
  5. Click Finish to close the back up wizard.
Restore your information
  1. Connect the device you want to back up to your computerwith a USB cable. You can use a Bluetooth connection instead but it will be much slower. Your device may ask you how you want to connect. Select PC Suite and then select OK.
  2. In Nokia Ovi Suite, select Tools > Restore.
  3. Select the information you want to restore, and choose a backup from the pull-down menu. The default for each device is the most recent backup.
  4. Select Start to begin restoring data to your device. Do not disconnect or switch off your device during the restoration, or quit Nokia Ovi Suite. If you need to stop the restoration, select Stop. Nokia Ovi Suite will reach a safe stop point and will then stop the restoration.
  5. Select Finish to close the back up wizard.
