Create a backup file

You can back up the entire Nokia device contents or selected content types. The content types available depend on the Nokia device model that you are using.

Possible content types include: contacts from the device memory, calendar and notes, messages, user files from the device memory, hard disk or memory card depending on what is available in your device, settings, Internet bookmarks.

To back up your device, click the Back up button. Note: a cable connection is the most convenient choice for the back up of many files, or if the files are very large.

You can now select the content types you want to back up. Then, click Next.

Nokia Content Copier suggests storing the backup file in the default folder. To select a different folder, click the Browse button. Click Next to start backup. During the backup, a progress indicator helps you keep track of the process.

When completed, all the content included in the backup file is shown. A yellow triangle indicates that certain files cannot be backed up (e.g., because of copyright protections). To view more information about the completed backup process, click View the report.
