Add music to your PC music collection

When you start Nokia Music for the first time, you can choose whether you want to scan your PC for audio files and playlists and import them into your PC music collection. To learn which audio file formats you can import to Nokia Music, see Supported audio file formats. By default, Nokia Music scans your PC for music content starting from the Windows My Music folder, but you can select another folder to start from. To start scanning, select Yes. To scan your PC later, select No.

Import tracks

If you do not scan for music on the first start, you can import music later as follows:

  1. In Nokia Music, select  Menu > File > Import music folder.
  2. Select the folder from which you want to start the search. You can also search removable storage devices and network drives. Subfolders are automatically included in the search.
  3. Select OK.
  4. Select Start Import.

You can also add music to the PC music collection from your PC hard drive, removable storage device, or network drive by dragging and dropping the item to the My PC icon in My Devices. For instructions on adding music to the PC music collection from an audio CD, see Rip an audio CD. For instructions on adding music to the PC music collection from your mobile device, see Transfer music.

Import playlists

To import a playlist:

  1. In Nokia Music, select  Menu > File > Import playlist.
  2. Select the location where to save the playlist. You can also save the playlist on a removable storage device or a network drive.
  3. Select Open.

Imported playlists are displayed in the My Playlists area.
