There are two ways to connect your phone to your PC:
  • Infrared

  • Bluetooth – If you wish to use Bluetooth, you will need a Bluetooth-enabled PC with the appropriate software.
The connection between your phone and your PC is made through the Nokia Connection Manager, which is automatically installed when you install PC Suite 5.02.

The simplest way to access the Nokia Connection Manager is to double click the phone icon that appears on your task bar:


Once you have double clicked the phone icon on your task bar, the Connection Manager will open:



The connection types are managed using the three icons at the top of the Connection Manager. The yellow icon manages the cable connection (not available for the Nokia 8910i), the red icon manages the infrared connection and the blue icon manages the Bluetooth connection.

To connect your phone to PC Suite via infrared:
  1. Activate the infrared on your phone (Menu > Connectivity > Infrared) and align the infrared ports of your phone and PC.
  2. Open Nokia Connection Manager and make sure that the infrared icon is active (It should have a green background as in the figure above. If it has a white background, click it with your mouse to activate the connection.
  3. The Nokia Connection Manager should now show the model number of your phone. Double click the model number to activate the connection.
  4. Your phone is now connected and you can start using the PC Suite applications.
To connect your phone to PC Suite via a Bluetooth connection:
  1. Make sure that you have installed all the necessary PC Software for your Socket card. For more information, see you user documentation for your Socket card. When you have done this, insert your Socket card into the PC Card slot on your PC.
  2. Activate the Bluetooth connection on your phone (Menu > Connectivity > Bluetooth > On).
  3. Open up the Bluetooth Neighbourhood software. (You can find a shortcut to this on your desktop.)
  4. In Bluetooth Neighbourhood, go to Menu  >  Bluetooth  > Device Discovery.
  5. When the Bluetooth Neighbourhood has found your phone, drag the COM port icon which has the Bluetooth Serial Port associated with it. To check which COM port this is, go to Control Panel > Bluetooth configuration tool and check which of the Digianswer Virtual COM port has the a check mark in the serial port profile box.
  6. Open the PC Suite connection manager by double clicking the phone icon on your task bar. Make sure that the Bluetooth icon   is active. It should have a green background. If it has a white background, click it with your mouse to activate the connection.
  7. Double click Nokia 8910i from the list. A dialog box will open, asking you to select the COM port that has the Bluetooth Serial Port associated with it. To check which COM port this is, go to Start > Control Panel > Bluetooth configuration tool and check which Digianswer Virtual COM port has a check mark in the serial port profile box.
  8. Go back to the Connection Manager and select the correct COM port from the drop-down list and click Connect.
  9. Your phone should now connect with your PC via Bluetooth and then you are ready to start using the PC Suite.
