1. IRCOMM upgrade is needed for Windows 2000.

If your PC is running Windows 2000, make sure that you have upgraded it with the IrCOMM patch. Without the IrCOMM patch installed, you will not be able to make data calls with your PC using your Nokia 8910 phone.

On the bottom of this page you find the link to the IRCOMM update page on the Microsoft site.

2. Nokia PC Suite 4.52 does not respond anymore.

If you are using an infrared connection, reactivate the infrared port of the phone and then restart Nokia PC Suite 4.52.

3. Nokia PC Suite 4.52 does not respond during a data call.

It is not possible to use Nokia PC Suite 4.52 during a data or fax call. End the data or fax call and restart Nokia PC Suite 4.52.

4. I disconnected and then reconnected my phone, without waiting for Nokia PC Suite 4.52 to recognise that the phone had been disconnected. Now Nokia PC Suite 4.52 does not respond.

Before reconnecting the phone, you should wait until Nokia PC Suite 4.52 recognises that you have disconnected the phone. This process may take a few seconds. The phone icon displayed on the status bar of Nokia PC Suite applications indicates the status of the phone connection. In Nokia PC Sync, the Nokia PC Sync tray icon appears yellow and white when the phone is disconnected. If you have reconnected your phone too early and experience problems, switch off your phone, then switch it on again and restart Nokia PC Suite 4.52.

5. The monitor window of Nokia phone editor does not recognise the connected phone, or it does not display information on phone calls.

Make sure that your phone is switched on. Reconnect the phone to the PC and then restart Nokia PC Suite 4.52. Note; that the Monitor window cannot display information on calls that were established before connecting the phone to the PC.

6. Imported and exported contacts are empty.

This problem occurs when you install a different language version of Nokia PC Suite 4.52 to the version of MS Outlook, Lotus Notes, Lotus Organizer or MS Schedule that is installed on your PC. For example, if you have installed the English version of MS Outlook onyour PC, you should install the English version of Nokia PC Suite 4.52.

To change the language version of Nokia PC Suite 4.52:
  1. Click the Start button, go to Settings > Control Panel.
  2. Click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. In the Install/Uninstall tab, select Nokia PC Suite 4.52 and click the Add/Remove button. The Setup Maintenence program will start.
  4. In the welcome window, select Modify.
  5. In the Language Selection window, select the language version you want to install.

7. Nokia PC Sync does not open my Lotus Organizer 97/gs/4.1 file.

Nokia PC Sync displays the error message "Organizer unable to open..." in the Selected Organizer File for Synchronisation dialog, if the Lotus Organizer file was saved without using the "Multi-user access" option.

To check whether this option is selected, select the Save As command from Lotus Organizer and then check that the Multi-User access option is selected when saving your Lotus Organizer file.

8. Nokia PC Sync does not work correctly with Lotus Notes.

Nokia PC Sync has different configurations for Lotus Notes 4.52/4.6 and 5.0 versions. If Nokia PC Sync uses the wrong configuration, the Lotus Notes Calendar database will not be synchronized correctly, so check that you are using the correct synchronisation options for your version of Lotus Notes.

9. I have edited my Birthday/Anniversary entries either in my phone or in Lotus Notes (4.52/4.6) and resynchronized, but the corresponding Birthday/Anniversary entries in the phone or in Lotus Notes (4.52/4.6) were not modified accordingly.

Lotus Notes 4.52/4.6 provides support for repeating Anniversary entries. However, the way Lotus Notes handles reoccuring items differs from the way the phone handles them. The 'parent' entry is created and the yearly repeating occurrences are individual copies of it. If any of these occurrences are modified or deleted, the changes won't affect other occurrences. This concerns both Lotus Notes and the phone, whether the entries are to be synchronized or not.

10. I have birthdays with alarms saved on my phone. After synchronizing with Lotus Organizer, there are no alarms with those birthday items.

The alarm times set on the phone for birthdays items will disappear from Lotus Organizer after synchronisation. The birthday items saved on the phone that have no alarm set will, after synchronisation, have the alarm set 7 days before the birthday. The alarms on your phone will not be affected by synchronisation. This is a Lotus Organizer functionality, and there are no preventive actions available.

11. Old To-do items appear in my phone after I have synchronized the phone with Outlook.

If your Outlook Calendar has To-do items that have no due date the items might be synchronized into the phone even if they are outside of the synchronisation range.

12. The 'Synchronisation completed' message appears, but all items are not synchronized.

If you have several Calendar items with alarms in your PIM, the synchronisation procedure might be interrupted. To prevent this, remove the alarms and try again. The same problem may occur when transferring Calendar items using Nokia Content Copier.

13. I disconnected the source phone and then connected the target phone without waiting for Nokia Content Copier to recognise that the phone had been changed. Nokia Content Copier does not recognise the target phone now.

Before connecting the target phone, you should wait until your PC stops detecting the source phone and the text Unknown appears in the Target phone box of Nokia Content Copier. This process will take a few seconds. If you have connected the target phone too early, please disconnect the target phone and now wait until Unknown text appears in the Target phone box and then try connecting the target phone again.

14. In Nokia Content Copier, the message 'Phone memory full' appears when moving contacts from the old phone to the new phone.

To resolve this problem, move all contacts from the SIM card to the phone, and try again.

15. My Nokia PC Sync makes duplicates when I am synchronizing contacts after having restored them with Nokia Content Copier.

Nokia Content Copier always creates new identifications for the contacts when they are restored. These contacts are therefore identified as new ones. You can remove the duplicate contacts by using Nokia Phone Editor.

16. I can't update operator logos to my phone using Nokia PC Graphics application.

Operator logos can only be sent as text messages. You cannot transfer operator logos between your phone and the PC.

17. When copying contact items from phone to another one with Nokia Content Copier, the web address is not transferred.

Nokia Content Copier does not currently support transferring web address.

18. After synchronisation the duration of calendar items is not shown correctly.

PC Sync does not support meeting end time. Only the meeting start time will be shown in the phone after the synchronisation. A meeting in the phone will always show as a half-an-hour meeting in PIM after synchronisation. A call in the phone will have a duration of 15 minutes in the PIM.
