WAP 1.2.1
Service message indicator (WAP push)
The phone can receive a service message with a short header
and link to a specific WAP service. The message types
can be selected from an operator or content provider's
content to get only messages of personal interest.
The phone has a dedicated service inbox (in Services menu),
where service messages are stored. While online, the service
inbox is found under Options (browser menu). In the service
inbox, the user can browse the received service messages,
download and delete them, and view the details of the
messages.
New service messages (of high or medium priority) come
with a notification "1 service message received". The
user can read the message or discard the notification.
You can save 10 messages in the service inbox.
A service message is automatically removed from the service
inbox when the expiry time (set by the content provider)
is reached.
Contact your service provider for more information on
the service message content.
Direct editing
When on top of a link to an input box, pressing the numeric
keypad will immediately start inputting. There is no need
to press the select key to get to the editor. This is
convenient for example when using banking services or
any other service requiring interaction.
Direct calling (WTAI Public library)
Interaction from the WAP browser to the phone enables
making a phone call directly from the WAP site. Contact
the closest chain store advertised at the WAP site or
call for more details regarding a WAP site article on
interesting travel destinations.
You can also add a phone book entry enabling you to add
new phonebook entries from a WAP address book and send
a DTMF tone from the WAP site.
Cookies
Works similarly to Internet cookies. The server can store
a text string on the phone, making it possible for a WAP
service to recognise the user from time to time, creating
a more personal and easier browsing. The Nokia 8910 has
the capacity to store 20 cookies, which are deleted starting
from the oldest ones. Cookies can be set 'on' or 'off'.
Downloadable Calendar (vCal) and Contact (vCard) items
Calendar appointments and business cards can be saved
to the phone's calendar or phone book. While browsing
you can select a calendar event or a business card to
be saved into the phone's memory.
Cache memory
Cache provides faster access to the frequently used services,
while the content is valid. The information or services
you have accessed are temporarily saved in the cache memory
of the phone.

To obtain access to WAP services, you need to:
- be in a network which supports GSM data (CSD) or
GPRS - these are the WAP data bearers in your phone
- have a data service enabled in your SIM card. If
you wish to use GPRS as a data bearer you need to
subscribe to it first
- have a WAP access point from your network operator
or WAP service provider, and
- enter the WAP settings to your phone
To enter the settings (under Services menu, Menu 12),
you have the following options. You can:
- Receive the settings as an Over-the-Air (OTA) message
from your network operator or service provider. Once
received, you can save them (or discard them).
- Key the settings in manually
- Utilise the new PC Suite 4.52 to store the settings
through your PC (available in the sales package CD
ROM or is downloadable at www.forum.nokia.com)
Your network operator or service provider's web sites
may provide a lot of useful information on the available
WAP services.

You can set bookmarks in the phone's memory. More information
on bookmarks in available on CD-ROM and the Web.
Your phone may have some pre-installed bookmarks for sites
not affiliated with Nokia. Nokia does not warrant or endorse
these sites. If you choose to access them, you should
take the same precautions, for security or content, as
you would with any site.
