For the first time in the premium category, the Nokia
8910 supports GPRS, featuring also WAP over GPRS. Common
applications/features enabled by GPRS in the Nokia 8910
are: WAP over GPRS, dial-up over GPRS (e.g. Internet and
e-mail), call counters (GPRS Connection timer and GPRS
Data counter)
As an addition to the GSM network, General Packet Radio
Service (GPRS) will enable users to have continuous mobile
access to operator services and the Internet. The main
initial use for GPRS is to have it as a bearer for WAP
services. GPRS provides immediate connectivity and, for
WAP users, better throughput than previous WAP enabled
phones.
When using WAP over GPRS, you can stay on-line longer
because you can be charged only for the data transfers
you make, not for the connection time.
For PC applications, GPRS will give similar benefits as
for WAP applications, i.e. more convenient connections.
This means that you can have emails downloaded as a background
process, the same way as in an office environment.
The Nokia PC Suite 4.52 has modem drivers for Win95, Win98,
Windows ME and Win2000 operating systems. From the sales
package CD-ROM or on the Nokia web site, www.forum.nokia.com,
you can find the PC Suite 4.52 and other useful information
on how to use the high-speed functionality for emails
or Internet browsing.
With the Nokia 8910 it is possible to reach data speeds
of up to 40.2 kbps (network dependent) using GPRS.
Before you can use GPRS technology
You need to subscribe to the GPRS service. For availability
and subscription to the GPRS service, contact your network
operator or service provider.
You need to save the GPRS settings for the applications
used over GPRS.

The Nokia PC Suite for Nokia 8910 is a synchronisation
application that allows you to synchronise calendar items
and contacts between your Nokia 8910 mobile phone and
your PC Personal Information Manager (PIM), thus keeping
both your phone and PC PIM up-to-date. The wide selection
of synchronisation options enables you to easily personalise

The Nokia Content Copier application (part of the sales
package CD-ROM SW package) allows you to back-up most
of your user data to your PC and restores it again to
your phone. This feature is a useful corporate tool to
build similar functionality and with the same updated

Directory and even a company logo can be stored to the
phone memory for use as a header for personalised messaging.
Content Copier can be also used in situations where a
customer has more than one handset and s/he wants to transport
user data quickly and conveniently from phone to phone.

Manager software and phone

and bookmarks easily on PC
- Nokia Content Copier for backing up and restoring
personal data from one phone to another phone or to
compatible PC. Nokia Content Copier is backward compatible
with many Nokia models

Yes, there is. You cannot read data from the phone without
the PIN (Personal Identification Number). PC Suite does
not find the phone if the PIN code is not inserted. This
is also the case with the PC Sync which is used for synchronising
data between PC and the phone.
