Messaging

Using your Nokia 7600 phone, you can read, write, send, and save text messages, multimedia messages, and e-mail messages. Messages are organized into folders.

Before you can send text or picture messages, you need to save your message center number - see Setting Your Phone Up for Messaging.

Start by selecting the topic of your choice from the navigation bar on the left.

NOTE:
When keying in your message, you can see the message length indicator counting backwards from 160 at the top of the display. For example, 10/2 means that you can still add 10 characters for the text to be sent as two messages. Also, using special (Unicode) characters such as ë or á takes up more space. If there are special characters in your message, the indicator may not show the message length correctly.

The Nokia 7600 phone supports the sending of text messages beyond the 160 characters limit (network service). If your message exceeds this limit, it will be sent as a series of two or more messages.

Text messages can contain pictures. Each picture message is made up of several text messages. Therefore, sending one picture message may cost more than sending one text message.

The picture message function can be used only if it is supported by your network operator or service provider. Only phones that offer picture message features can receive and display picture messages.

When sending messages via the SMS network service, your Nokia 7600 phone may display the words Message sent. This is an indication that the message has been sent by your phone to the message center number programmed into your phone. This is not an indication that the message has been received at the intended destination. For more details about SMS services, check with your service provider.

When you receive a message, the indicator and the number of new messages followed by messages received are displayed.

If the indicator blinks, the text message memory is full. Before you can receive new messages, you need to delete some old ones. Text messages use shared memory.
