Viewing and editing
your own information Enter the Instant messages
menu and connect to the service. Select My settings to view
and edit your own availability information or screen name. Select
Availability and either Available for all or Avail.
for contacts (or Appear offline ) to allow either all
other users or only the contacts on your contacts list to see you
as being online when you have connected to the service. When you
are connected to the service, indicates that you are online
and that you are not visible to others.
Add Chat contacts
To add contacts to the instant messaging contacts list, connect
to the service and select IM contacts. If the contacts list is empty,
the phone displays Contact list empty. Select Copy contacts
from server? to retrieve available contacts from the server.
Otherwise, press Options and select Add contact, or,
if you have no contacts added, press Add. Select:
- Enter ID manually.
- Search from serv.
to search for a contact from the server.
- From contacts
to search for a name in Contacts.
- Copy from server
to copy a name from a server-based contacts list.
When a contact is added,
the phone displays Added to IM contacts: and the contact
name.
Scroll to a contact and press Chat to start a session, or
press Options and select:
- Contact info
to view details of the selected contact.
- Edit name
to edit the contact name.
- Block contact
(or Unblock contact ) to block (or unblock) messages from
the selected contact.
- Add contact
to add a new contact from the phone's contact memory.
- Remove contact
to remove a contact from the contacts list.
- Copy to server
to copy a name to a server-based contacts list.
- Availability alerts
to mark from whom you wish to receive availability alerts.
