Infrared
The phone has an infrared port that you can use to connect your phone to another IrDA-compliant device. You can use an infrared connection to transfer, for example, business cards and calendar notes.

Infrared also enables a practical wireless connection between your Nokia 6650 and your PC when using the PC Suite or when using your phone as a modem.

Press Menu in standby mode, and select Connectivity and Infrared.

Sending and receiving data via infrared
  • Ensure that the infrared ports of your phone and the other device are pointing at each other and that there are no obstructions between the devices. The preferable distance between the two devices in an infrared connection is one meter at the most.
  • To receive data, activate the infrared port of your phone by pressing Menu in standby mode and by selecting Connectivity andInfrared. Ask the user of the sending phone to start the data transfer.
  • To send data from your phone, select the function from which you want to send data over the infrared connection. For example, to send a calendar note when you are viewing it in the Calendar menu, press Options and select Send note and Via infrared.
  • If data transfer is not started within two minutes after the activation of the infrared port, the connection is cancelled and has to be started again.
Checking the status of the infrared connection
  • When is shown continuously, the infrared connection is active and your phone is ready to send or receive data via its infrared port.
  • When blinks, your phone is trying to connect to the other device or the connection has been lost.
