1. What data options does
the Nokia 6610 have and what are the data speeds?
The Nokia 6610 supports CSD (Circuit Switched Data), HSCSD
(High Speed Circuit Switched Data) and GPRS (General Packet
Radio Service). CSD (GSM data) works in conventional GSM
networks, and data transmission speeds range from 9.6
kbps to 14.4 kbps.
HSCSD speeds are up to 43.2 kbit/sec (3+1/ 2+2). The supported
connection methods are analog, ISDN v110 and ISDN v120.
The difference compared to GPRS is that the circuit connection
is left open and the throughput level is then stable in
the GSM network.
The peak bit rate of the Nokia 6610 GPRS phone is 40.2
kbps with three time slots, which is more than enough
for most of the current and near future WAP services.
There are four different Coding Schemes, and Nokia terminals
support CS1, CS2, CS3 and CS4. Transmission speed is also
affected by the available network resources. The Nokia
6610 supports multislot class 6, which enables 3+1 and
2+2 (receiving/sending) connection and is optimal for
browsing and downloading.
4. What does triple band EGSM 900/GSM
1800/1900 ’’World Phone’’ actually
mean?
The Nokia 6610 can operate in these three different GSM
networks, which essentially means that it can be used
on all five continents where these networks are supported
- EGSM 900 and GSM 1800 are supported in Europe & Africa,
APAC and Brazil, and GSM 1900 is supported in the Americas.
5. I hear people talk about SAR
figures. What does SAR mean?
SAR stands for Specific Absorption Rate, which is a measure
of the amount of radio wave energy absorbed by the body
when using a mobile phone. Scientifically based international
recommendations and standards are in force governing the
maximum levels of SAR. All Nokia products are designed
to comply with relevant recommendations and standards.
More information can be found from the user guide included
in the Nokia 6610 sales package and from nokia.com.
6. What kinds of services does the
Club Nokia offer for the Nokia 6610?
Club Nokia members can download polyphonic ringing tones
(MIDI) and color graphics and pictures via WAP from Club
Nokia. A new attraction is the possibility to also download
colorful wallpaper pictures to the Nokia 6610.
