Terms and abbreviations
AAC
Advanced Audio Coding, which is a high-quality audio coding technology and the solution of choice for many broadcast and electronic music distribution applications. In independent tests, the coding efficiency of AAC proved to be superior to MP3, providing good quality audio reproduction at lower bit rates. With the AAC format you can save twice as many songs on your Nokia 5510 compared to the MP3 format. AAC is compatible with digital rights management (DRM), encryption and watermarking solutions available today.
CSD
Circuit Switched Data is used to make a 'normal' GSM data call.
Chat
The Chat function allows you to have a conversation, with another party by using text messages, similar to chat services on the Internet. You can chat either Point-to-point or Multipoint (Please contact your operator for information on availability and how to subscribe to the service.)

Concatenated messaging
Concatenated messaging allows you to type longer messages. Your phone automatically connects up to three messages, making your messages almost three times longer than normal SMS messages. The invoicing of multi-part messaging may vary; please contact your operator for further information.
Countdown Timer
The phone has a built-in timer that allows you to set the phone to sound an alarm after a specified period of time. The Countdown timer contains two separate timers: a normal timer and an interval timer. The timer setup consists of two entities: hours and minutes.

MP3
MPEG-Layer III and is a popular codec. The MP3 is a format for audio compression that was developed by the Moving Picture Expert's Group (MPEG) in the early 1990s; one of its requirements was to preserve compatibility with the MPEG-1 audio coding system. MPEG-1 is the standard for storage and retrieval of moving pictures and audio storage media.
Music Player
With the new Nokia Music Player you can take your favorite music with you wherever you go. Featuring a built-in FM radio, a digital music player and functioning at the same time as a hands-free headset. The Nokia Music Player can play digital rights management (DRM) protected music in AAC format. The Nokia Music player sales packet contains a 32 MB removable memory card on which you can store and play AAC and MP3 music files. The 32MB memory card can hold up to one hour of music. Nokia Audio Manager PC software provided in the sales package is easy-to-use and converts your CD's into a high-quality AAC format. Once you have downloaded your files to the unit with the supplied USB cable you're ready to rock and roll.

Nokia Audio Manager
Audio Manager is a program for compatible PC´s and is supplied free of charge with Nokia Music Player. It allows you to convert music from your CD´s to AAC format and organize your music library. Once you have a library of music stored on your computer, you con create playlists and transfer them to your Nokia Music Palyer memory card for enjoyment on the move.
Picture messaging
With picture messaging, your messages can be made more informative and more personalised. You can send a picture and attach text with it. Please note that the picture messaging feature is network dependent and sending one picture message may cost more than one text message. You can send and receive picture messages to and from Nokia phones that support the picture messaging feature.
Smileys
Smileys are familiar from e-mail and even from your own text messages. These expressive small smileys are now easy to choose from a pre-canned template. The Insert smiley function allows you to add a smiley character such as :-) to your message. Select the desired smiley and press Select. You can also create your own smileys!
Stopwatch
Some phones have a built-in stopwatch that can be used for measuring times in different sports, for example. The precision of the stopwatch is to one-hundredth of a second. The stopwatch tracks time for up to 10 hours maximum
