Nokia 5510 - TIPS AND HINTS


1. How to lock keypad

Press Menu and then quickly press the space bar.


2. Use a screensaver to personalise your Nokia 5510.

To add a screensaver:
  1. Go to Profiles and select the profile you wish to add a screensaver to
  2. Select Personalise and then choose Screen Saver
  3. Use the arrow key to select the screen saver you want to use. When you have find the one you want to use, press Use
  4. Select On and return to the standby screen. The screen saver should come on after the phone has been inactive for a few seconds.

3. For quick access to music player and radio, use shortcut buttons on side of phone.




4. Use the Sound style options to optimise the sound quality when you are using the music player.

To use the sound style options:
  1. Turn on the music player using the music player key on the side of the phone
  2. Select the Options and Music style
  3. Eperiment with some of the different sound styles

5. You can write & send messages or play games while listening to music


6. You can delete tracks by using the tracklist on your phone or by using the Nokia Audio Manager

To delete tracks using the track manager on the phone:
  1. Go to the Music menu and select Tracklist
  2. Select the track you wish to record and press the Options key
  3. Now choose Delete and confirm the action

To delete tracks from your phone using the Nokia Audio Manager:
  1. Connect your phone to your PC
  2. Open the Nokia Audio Manager. You can see the tracks in your device in the right-hand window
  3. To delete the tracks one by one, select them press the Remove button. The track will then be deleted.
  4. To delete all tracks on your Nokia 5510 press the Format Media button and confirm the action



7. You can preset up to 10 radio stations.

To preset radio stations:
  1. Turn the radio on by pressing the radio shortcut button on the side of the phone
  2. Either enter the frequency manually by pressing Options and set frequency or press the arrow key down and hold it for a short while to start the auto search feature
    1. When you have found the radio station you were looking for, press Options and Save channel
    2. Enter a name for the radio station
    3. Select where you want to save the radio station (Place 1-10) and confirm the action
    4. On the music player, use the music style options to optimize the sound quality

8. To store more music, decrease the bit rate.
If you want to have very high sound quality however, you should use a higher bit rate. However, if it is more important that you have more music on your device, use on of the lower bit rates.
The Bit rate vs the amount of music are as follows:
  • 64 kbit/s ->approximately 2 hours
  • 80 kbit/s-> approximately 1 hour 45 minutes
  • 96 kbit/s ->approximately 1 hour 30 minutes
  • 128 kbit/s>approximately 1 hour
  • 160 kbit/s->approximately 50 minutes
  • 192 kbit/s->approximately 40 minutes

To reduce the bit rate, go to the Nokia Audio Manager menu and then. View>Options>Read CD tab>Bit rate. Remember that this setting will remain in the Nokia Audio Manager until you change it again.

9. In order to see Artist/Song name correctly in Nokia 5510, Windows must be the same language as
    the Nokia 5510 and also the Nokia Audio Manager



Note: You can't listen to music or use the phone features when the phone is connected to your PC.
