Modem Setup
You can use your Nokia 5100 as a modem for your PC. This means that you can access the Internet, your company's intranet or servers, or your own e-mail while you are on the move. You can use your Nokia 5100 as a modem via infrared (IrDA) or cable connection. The Nokia 5100 uses the Connectivity Adapter Cable DKU-5, which is available as an enhancement.

To install and run the Nokia Modem Options you need:
  • An Intel compatible PC equipped with Windows 98/98SE/ME/2000/XP
  • For the connection between the Nokia 5100 and PC you need a compatible infrared or USB port on your PC

Note

If your PC is running Windows 2000, make sure that you have upgraded it with the IrCOMM patch. Without the IrCOMM patch installed, you will not be able to make data calls with your PC using your Nokia 5100 phone. Updates for Windows are available from the Microsoft Download Center at www.microsoft.com/
