How can you download Polyphonic ringing tones over WAP? How can you get new ringing tones? What can be done in the Profiles menu? In Profiles you can adjust and customize the phone tones for different events, environments or caller groups. How does the new Polyphonic MIDI ringing tones differ from traditional ringing tones? Polyphonic MIDI ringing tones offer users a new, high-quality sound experience. Polyphonic ringing tones and traditional ringing tones can be used as personal ringing tones, background music and SMS alert tones. Polyphonic tones enable richer ringing tones with a wide variety of sounds. Multiple tones can be playing at the same time using different pre-defined instrument sounds: piano, violin, drums etc. The SW player providing the polyphonic ringing tones includes the sounds of 43 instruments; 4 voices/tones can be played simultaneously. New tones can be received over MMS, downloaded from Club Nokia via WAP or from the Internet with Nokia PC Suite 5.03. The available bearers are GPRS and GSM Data. In addition, the phone supports Scalable Polyphony MIDI (SP-MIDI), which provides the ability to play scalable content, and enables polyphonic ringing tones. The maximum MIDI ringing tone size is 30 kB. What kind of ringing tone file format does the Nokia 5100 support? The file format supported is SP-MIDI (Scalable Polyphonic MIDI). SP-MIDI is a new open standard for mobile terminals. The standard was conceived as a solution for "3G" (3rd Generation) mobile applications and systems. SP-MIDI provides flexibility to both the system operator and the mobile terminal manufacturer to address differing customer needs. The Scalable Polyphony MIDI Specification and Device Profiles document can be ordered via MMA (MIDI Manufacturers Association). Vibra is supported in Nokia 5100 SP-MIDI. The Nokia 5100 also supports monophonic Nokia ringing tones (NRT). How can you download Polyphonic ringing tones over WAP? The Gallery menu/Tone Services provides access to polyphonic ringing tone downloads. The Tone service option takes the end user directly e.g. to the Club Nokia WAP site supporting the download of polyphonic tones. It is also possible to download polyphonic tones directly from the Service main menu. If the operator has pre-defined bookmarks to WAP sites with polyphonic content for downloading, these can be activated directly by the end user. If no bookmarks are pre-defined, the end user can key in a bookmark that will take them to the right site. How can you get new ringing tones? It is possible to download new ringing tones over Smart Message, SMS, WAP, MMS or Nokia PC Suite 5.03. The amount of new ringing tones is limited only by the available shared user memory. |
