Java™ technology makes the mobile phone more exciting to use by enabling users to select the applications they want. The Nokia 5100 supports the downloading of Java™ applications over both WAP and via the PC Suite with a compatible PC.

What Java™ version does the Nokia 5100 support?
The Nokia 5100 supports the Java™ 2 Micro Edition (J2ME) platform, specifically designed for consumer electronics products. More specifically, the platform is based on the industry standard for Mobile Information Device Profile 1.0 (MIDP 1.0) that provides essential functions in creating applications for mobile phones.

What is the maximum size of Java™ applications that can be downloaded to the Nokia 5100?
This depends on the number of applications, images, polyphonic tones etc. that you have downloaded.

How can you download Java™ applications?
There are a number of ways in which Java™ applications can be downloaded into the Nokia 5100. The most common way is to download the applications into the phone using WAP. The maximum size of the JAR (Java Archive file) file that can be provisioned is 64 kB.
