Making Backups

One of the most important tasks that you can perform with the PC Suite for your Nokia 3650 is making a backup of information that you have stored on your phone (phonebook information, calendar, settings, installed applications, multimedia file types and images).

This backup is saved on you PC and then if you lose or damage your phone, you have a copy of this information; which you can then restore to your repaired or new phone. It is especially important to make a backup before you send your phone in for servicing or maintenance work.

Backing up information

  1. Connect your phone to your PC either via Bluetooth or via infrared.
  2. Open the PC Suite for Nokia 3650
  3. Click Backup/Restore on the application bar.
  4. Click Backup. The backup process begins.

You can see the status of the backup process on the status bar.

Restoring information

  1. Connect your phone to your PC either via bluetooth or via infrared
  2. Open the PC Suite for Nokia 3650
  3. Click Backup/Restore on the application bar.
  4. Select the information you want to restore by using the check boxes:
    • If you want to backup or restore all data, select All data including settings check box.
    • If you want to backup or restore only certain groups of information, you have four options: Calendar data, Contacts, Documents, and Images. Select the appropriate check boxes.
    • You can also select whether you restore the data on the phone memory, on the memory card or on both the phone and the memory card.
    • If any of the options are unavailable, you haven't backed up that kind of data.
  5. Click Restore. The restore process begins.
    • You can see the status of the restore process on the status bar.

Tip: You can also make a back up of all you personal data that is stored on you phone to your phone's memory card. This is very quick and easy to do.

To make a back up of your phone memory:

  1. In the main menu on your Nokia 3650, Go to the folder Extras and scroll down to the Memory card icon and open it by pressing the Scroll key down
  2. Press Options and select Backup phone mem. Press Yes in answer to the confirmation question. The backup will be created. This will take a few minutes

If at any time you need to restore the information in the back up (after phone repair or to a new Nokia 3650):

  1. Go to the folder Extras and scroll down to the Memory card icon and open it by pressing the Scroll key down
  2. Press Options and select Restore from card.
  3. Press Yes in answer to the confirmation question. All you personal data and settings that you made before taking the back up will now be restored to you phone memory. This will take a few minutes.
