Update your Nokia N95 Software

Software version 20.0.015 for your Nokia N95, enhances your device's battery, stability and performance. It enables you to run faster and longer, giving you up to three more hours of music playback. It also comes with a new version of Nokia Maps with faster positioning and Map Loader as well as a free 3-day navigation trial. Free N-Gage demo games are included, while other games are available via the Download! application. Please note that the update will not provide your device with 8 GB more memory.

To check your current software version, enter *#0000# on your Nokia N95's keypad. The version number will look similar to this: V 12.3.456. If the number is lower than 20.0.015, you have an older software version installed and can proceed with the update.

Nokia N95 software update step by step

  1. Before you start, make sure you activate Active standby if it is not already active. Go to Menu > Settings > General > Personalisation > Standby mode > Active standby = on

  2. Back-up your device memory data to your device memory card or to your PC using Nokia Suites. You will find more detailed instructions in Nokia N95 user guide.

    To backup to your memory card:

    • Select Tools > Memory from the main menu
    • Select Options > Backup phone mem.
  3. Update your Nokia N95 firmware with Nokia Software Updater. Nokia Software Updater will guide you through the update process.
  4. Activate active standby again if it is not already active. Go to Menu > Settings > General > Personalisation > Standby mode > Active standby = on

  5. Restore data to your Nokia N95 from your device memory card or your PC using Nokia Suites. You will find more detailed instructions in Nokia N95 user guide.

    To restore data to device memory:

    • Select Tools > Memory from the main menu
    • Select Options > Restore from card

Optimize the menu layout

After updating the software to 20.0.015 and restoring your personal data, you can optimize the menu layout by installing the New_Menu_Structure.SIS file. Download and install this file to rearrange your menu layout specifically for software version 20.0.015. You will see the menu changes once you have rebooted your device.

To install the file in your device, first download it to a compatible computer. If it is a ZIP file, you may need to extract it manually before continuing. Transfer it to your device using Nokia Suites, and a Nokia Connectivity Cable DKE-2 or a wireless connection.
