
With the VPN client, your phone connects from a mobile network to a corporate VPN gateway that acts as a front door to the corporate network. IPSec is used to create a secure tunnel over unsecured IP networks. To use VPN, you will need a VPN policy. Ask your corporate network administrator about the use of VPN.
To give a nickname to a paired device that is only displayed in your phone, scroll to the device, press Options, and select Assign short name. To delete pairing with a device, scroll to the device and press Clear.
You can enhance security by locking your Nokia E51. Select Tool > Settings > General > Security > Phone and SIM card > Lock code and create a 5-digit lock code. Be sure to memorize it. To lock the phone, press the Power key briefly, select Lock phone, and enter the code. To unlock your phone, you wil need to enter the code again.
If your phone is stolen or gets lost, you can lock it (and the memory card) remotely by sending a lock code via SMS.
Use the keypad lock (keyguard) to prevent the keys on the phone from being pressed accidentally. To lock the keypad, first press the left selection key and then the * key. To unlock the keypad, repeat the same sequence.
To prolong the operating time of your phone, turn the Bluetooth technology off when you do not need it. To close all the unused applications that are not running in the background, press and hold the menu key, scroll on an application in the list and press the Clear key.
To back up information from the phone memory to a compatible memory card, select Menu > Tools > Memory. Then select Options > Back up phone memory. The phone notifies you if the memory card does not have enough free space to create a back-up. To restore the backed up information, select Options > Restore from card.
